Discover the movies that suit your language level and help you take your listening skills to the next step.
Learning English through movies is one of the most effective and enjoyable ways to improve your listening comprehension and vocabulary. However, choosing the right movie for your level is crucial: too difficult and you'll feel overwhelmed, too easy and you won't progress. FilFluent solves this problem by analyzing movies to match them with your English proficiency level, ensuring you get the optimal challenge for your learning journey.
FilFluent takes the subtitles of the movie you typed and analyzes them to determine its English difficulty using the CEFR framework (A1 to C2). It looks at vocabulary, sentence structure, and speaking pace to give you a clear idea of the level needed to understand the film.
To determine vocabulary level and sentence structure, FilFluent uses several tools, including:
- NGSL (New General Service List)
- C1/C2 lists
- TTR (Type-Token Ratio)
- MTLD (Measure of Textual Lexical Diversity)
- Hapax Legomena
- Hapax Dislegomena
- NLTK (Natural Language Toolkit)
This is an estimation tool based on subtitle analysis. Accuracy depends on subtitle quality. Films with heavy accents, slang, or technical dialogue may have different difficulty in practice. Always use this as a guide rather than a definitive measure of your ability to understand the film.
